After a morning walk through Helsinki, we continued east towards a small town Savonlinna. On our way there we stopped next to one of the many lakes to cool ourselves in the water and to cook. There was only one problem; the box on the top of the car where we keep most of our things wouldn't open as the lock broke. Because it was Saturday afternoon and we were practically in the middle of nowhere we had no other chance but to break into the box by ourselves. After two hours of hard work and two nearly broken arms, we finally managed to open it, fix the lock, cook lunch, jump into the lake and move on. Now we are not only mechanics and electricians any more, we are also burglars and locksmithers.
Savonlinna's main attraction is a spectacular 18th century Olavinlinna fortress located on an island close to the shore, which was of course closed for visitors when we came there in the evening. We decided to visit it in the morning and spend the night sleeping in a forest nearby. It turned out that our biggest enemy here won't be the mosquitoes, but the unbearable heat.
