Day 11: Vilnus and the Curonian Split

Today we actually managed to wake up on time, because we were supposed to meet Vilma in the centre of Vilnus at 10 am. We have planned everything sooo well just to make sure that we won't be late, but of course we forgot that there is a time difference of one hour. So we came to the centre 10 min earlier than we planned, but actually an hour too late...

Vilnus is a nice little town with a cute old part and with the highest number of wedings we have ever seen. Vilma was kind enough to be our guide for the day, merci beaucoup!

We drove to Klaipeda afterwards to visit the Curonian Split, a peninsula that is equally divided between Russia - Kaleningrad and Lithuania and is famous especially for its sand dunes. We had a little Hoge-Veluwe-style photoshooting there and spent half an hour cleaning off all the sand afterwards.

We picked up two hitchikers on our way back from the Curonian Split and they came with us to Palanga, which is a popular Lithuanian tourist resort.
